Alysha Clark, in a shocking move, after nine years with the Seattle Storm has left to play for the Washington Mystics. Now a lot of people will see this move and not bat an eye. But this is actual huge news for the power structure of the WNBA. Alysha Clark was the best defender in the WNBA the last two years. She is far and away the best perimeter defender in the WNBA. This is a massive blow to the Seattle Storm that they will not be able to replace easily. The betting markets may not react to this enough, but Seattle is now no longer the favorite to repeat as WNBA champs with the loss of Clark, especially since they do not posses a ready made replacement.
Addtionally, Clark going to the Mystics is huge for Washington, perhaps installing them as the new favorite to win the WNBA title. In Washington Clark will not be called upon to shoulder most of the offensive role with Elena Della Donne already present and will fill a role similar to what she was for the Seattle Storm.
DFS Impact: Minimal. She was not a huge producer for Seattle and I doubt she will be in Washington. There is probably a slight upgrade for Elena Della Donne if you are swapping out Aerial Powers (a higher usage player) for Alysha Clark a lower usage player.
